Thermoelectric has many applications that include remote power generation and energy savaging of waste heat. One of the more appealing applications is in low grade waste heat recovery where thermal energy is typically considered non-recoverable. Thermoelectric devices can potentially convert this waste heat directly into usable electrical energy. Future research is focused on increasing the efficiency and decreasing cost of these devices through materials developments.
