Autonomous Navigation in Underground Mines

Underground environments can be dangerous for human workforces, making them well-suited for the use of autonomous robots. Likewise, the number of underground environments is likely to increase with future population growth. Statler College researchers have led high profile projects in the area of search and rescue in underground mining environments and the structural monitoring and surveying of mines with the use of ground robots and aerial drones.
