Technical assistance and training for communities is focused on providing support to rural water and wastewater utilities throughout West Virginia and more broadly, the Appalachian region. In particular, Dr. Lian-Shin Lin and Dr. Emily Garner collaborate with WVU’s National Environmental Services Center, University of Kentucky, and University of Tennessee, Knoxville on the Appalachian Community Technical Assistance and Training Program. Through this program they help to provide training to water and wastewater facilities through the state. In addition, they have assisted with developing engineering documentation to support plant operations and mapping and modeling drinking water distribution system infrastructure.
