West Virginia’s college educated population lags at 29 percent and Statler College is striving to improve this scenario. Statler’s K-12 outreach activities include summer engineering camps and essay contests, the STEM education initiative aims to reduce shortage of science and math teachers in the state. The Summer Research Experience trains teachers to use the National Radio Observatory to look for pulsars and gravitational waves. Other initiatives include Arts and Bots, a 3D art project in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, and GigaPan Technology, a robotic picture taking platform.
